Hidden Valley Picture Jasper necklace

$300.00

Hidden Valley Picture Jasper comes from the rugged Owyhee Mountains of Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho. This unusual and visually striking stone has a translucent, porcelain-like texture with twisting bands of pastel pink, mauve and tan. The swirling patterns in the stone are echoed in the undulating, oxidized surface of the reticulated silver bail, accentuated with 24k keum-boo.

Reticulation uses controlled heating to produce a wrinkled, raised effect on metal. The reticulated surface can resemble a topographical map—or crumbled paper. The results, which rely on the different melting and cooling points of metal alloys, are unpredictable and serendipitous. No two pieces look exactly alike.

Keum-boo (meaning “attached gold”) is an ancient Korean technique of fusing 24k gold foil to the surface of another metal, usually fine silver, using heat and pressure.

The pendant measures 2 inch long by 1⅛ inches wide and comes on a 21-inch long sterling silver chain.

This original, one-of-a kind design is entirely fabricated by hand—once it is gone, it cannot be replicated.

Your necklace will arrive beautifully packaged in a gift box tied with a ribbon.
